Fundraise for Mia

Run, cycle, walk, bake or swim: every challenge helps a young person keep playing the sport they love.

Every challenge counts

We are a small charity run by volunteers, and we rely on people like you. Most of the money we have raised so far came from friends and family of Mia taking on a challenge in her name. Whatever you choose to do, we would love to support you and share your story.

How to fundraise

Four simple steps

  1. Choose your challenge

Anything you enjoy, big or small. Doing it in a group, or with your club, makes it more fun.

  2. Set up a page

Create a JustGiving page for the What Would Mia Do Trust, so gifts and Gift Aid come straight to us.

  3. Tell us about it

Get in touch and we will send a fundraising pack, and cheer you on.

  4. Share your story

Tell people why you are doing it. Stories about Mia, and the young people we help, inspire people to give.

Ideas to get you started

  • Run a race or a half marathon
  • Cycle, walk or swim a distance that means something to you
  • Hold a bake sale, quiz night or raffle
  • Ask your sports club to hold a fundraising match or a kit amnesty
  • Organise a non-uniform day or sponsored event at school
  • Ask your employer about matching what you raise

Fundraising safely and legally

  • Set up a page on JustGiving and choose the What Would Mia Do Trust, so donations and Gift Aid come straight to us.
  • Collecting money in a public place usually needs a licence from your local council. Collecting on private property needs the owner's permission.
  • Raffles and lotteries have their own rules. Ask us if you are not sure.
  • Please tell us before using our name or logo, and we will send you what you need.

More ways to help

Other ways to support us

  • Give in memory of someone. Tick "in memory" when you donate, and we will note their name with your gift.
  • Give regularly. A monthly Direct Debit, however small, lets us promise support through a whole season.
  • Leave a gift in your will. Speak to your solicitor, and let us know if you would like to talk it through.
  • Lend us your skills. If you work in sport, coaching or fundraising, we would love to hear from you.

Ready to give?

Give once by card, or set up a monthly Direct Debit you can manage yourself online. Gift Aid adds 25% at no cost to you.
